The number one slot for boys isn't what you'd expect

If you&rsquo;re on the hunt for a baby name for your impending arrival then it might be worth checking out the most popular names of 2016 so far for a little inspiration.Nameberry, an online guide to baby names, has released their official list of the names to hit the top spot since the beginning of this year and we think one or two choices might raise an eyebrow!For baby girls, Charlotte, the most popular name last year, has been bumped off the number one slot by Olivia and a little more unusual is the boys list, which sees Ezra taking the prize for most popular name of 2016. Not a name you&rsquo;ve heard before? Ezra is a biblical name which means ‘help&rsquo;.More off piste names have crept into the boys top 10 with Asher, Atticus and Declan climbing the rankings, meanwhile Aurora, Adeline and Isla are the more unusual choices in the girls top 10 countdown. It seems we're influenced more and more by popular TV shows and movies when choosing a name, too. Game Of Thrones has caused a surge in parents naming their newborns Arya, while Khaleesi still sits in the top 100 at number 48. And of course celebrity baby names have filtered to the mainstream too - Penelope has risen up the ladder after Kourtney Kardashian gave her little girl the name, while Violet has hit the top 20 thanks to actresses Emily Blunt and Jennifer Garner's choice for their daughters.Can&rsquo;t decide what to name your bundle of joy?
