UK consumers eat around 11 billion eggs a year  &ndash; approximately 31 million eggs a day, or 350 every second? That&rsquo;s a lot of eggs!<h2>All about our eggs</h2>All of Asda&rsquo;s fresh eggs are sourced from UK farms and each egg has a British Lion stamp on it, which not only means that the eggs are high quality but shows that these farms meet specific welfare and hygiene standards monitored by the British Egg Industry Council.Some of our eggs are produced and sold locally, for example, in Lancashire, Yorkshire and Kent. We also sell eggs from Welsh farms in Wales and Scottish eggs in Scotland, which means you get the best out of your local produce, supporting local farmers to boot.<h2>All about the hens</h2>Did you know? An average hen lays a massive 300 to 325 eggs a year.Most of the fresh eggs we eat in the UK are from hens kept in an indoor farming system.  They have nestboxes for laying their eggs and the eggs roll on to a conveyor belt and are collected by the farmers, who must look after their flocks in accordance with the British Lion welfare standards.<h2>Different types of eggs</h2>Asda stocks lots of different kinds of eggs so that you have the choice to decide what eggs suit you best.Free RangeFree Range eggs are produced by hens that can roam outside during daylight hours. They then lay their eggs inside in nestboxes and are kept in the hen house overnight to make sure that they are safe from foxes and bad weather.OrganicOrganic eggs are produced by free range hens which are fed a special organic diet, containing no additives or colouring. The hens can roam on organic land and are kept to the welfare standards of both the British Egg Industry Council and The Organic Farmers and Growers Organisation, so you know you&rsquo;re getting quality produce.Did you know?
