In case you needed a reason to love Instagram even more, we think we may have just found it.The social media platform has recognised that although many people use the app for good (like visually expressing themselves, finding inspiration, and staying in touch with friends), unfortunately others use the app for trolling and bullying. So, Instagram has decided to take action and rolled out a new feature that allows users to report and flag posts that could lead to dangerous behaviour like self-harming. This way, if you see a friend or stranger post something that feels like a cry for help, you can do something about it.<img alt="insta1" class="ci-image ci-original" src="https://ui3.assets-asda.com/dm/insta1_GL?scl=1">Starting immediately, once a post is reported, Instagram will reach out to whoever posted it with options for support resources and the caption "Someone saw one of your posts and thinks you might be going through a difficult time. If you need support, we'd like to help." The app then offers suggestions (that you can access through the app) — that you talk to a friend, contact a local helpline, or receive some mental health advice and support.To find the perfect wording, Instagram sought out help by consulting with the National Eating Disorders Association and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.Best of all, you can anonymously report posts &ndash; so if you are genuinely worried about someone self-harming, being bullied, or going through a difficult time, you can get them help without appearing confrontational.You could even report yourself and reach out for help when you need it.The new tools have just launched to tie in with National Body Confidence Day. You can share posts celebrating your strength, individuality, and body positivity with the hashtag #PerfectlyMe.
