The women taking over our TV screens this September

<p>As summer draws to a close, one of the upsides of an end to those warm, sunny days is a new season of amazing television shows hitting our screens. And step aside gentlemen, because this autumn's line-up is all about the ladies. Get ready for some serious binge-watching, as there's a slew of amazing new TV shows coming out this September and beyond - many starring and created by women! From period dramas to gripping thrillers to laugh-out-loud comedies, these are the new TV shows and leading ladies you <em>won't</em> want to miss... </p><h2>Victoria</h2><p><em>Dr Who</em> actress Jenna Coleman stars in an eight-part drama about the famous monarch's early years, from her coronation to her marriage. We begin with the Queen's accession in 1837, and follow Victoria's journey as an impulsive teenager with a poor understanding of her responsibilities through to the formidable monarch she was destined to become. This highly anticipated period drama also features a handsome Tom Hughes as Prince Albert and Rufus Sewell as Prime Minister and mentor Lord Melbourne. <em>ITV, starts August 28</em></p><p><iframe allowfullscreen frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/x74zS1LSuto?rel=0" width="560"></iframe>;</p><h2>The Fall, Series 3</h2><p>Hurrah &ndash; the amazing DSI Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) and her gorgeous silky shirts are back! The end of series two left us eagerly in suspense - is serial killer Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan) still alive? And if so, will he finally pay for his crimes? Unfortunately the trailer below gives nothing away but get ready for another gripping series. <em>BBC Two, September</em></p><p><iframe allowfullscreen frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Su8qOzmIRL0?rel=0" width="560"></iframe></p><h2>The Crown </h2><p>Another period drama we just can't <em>wait </em>to watch, but this time about our current Queen. Spanning the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II, this Netflix show is expected to run for six seasons, starting from Her Majesty's wedding in 1947 to the present day. In this first season, actress Claire Foy plays a younger Queen as we watch her struggle with her relationship with prime minister Winston Churchill (John Lithgow) and with her husband, Prince Philip (Dr. Who&rsquo;s Matt Smith). Each episode will be a different season of the year, starting with winter. Expect the usual witty pop-culture references, clever sarcasm, tender mother-daughter moments and happily, ALL of Rory's exes will be making an appearance. But will Rory end up with any of them? <em>Netflix, November 25</em></p><p><iframe allowfullscreen frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fTnU5MG5Edw?rel=0" width="560"></iframe></p><h2>One Mississippi</h2><p>This dark comedy about a woman who temporarily moves back home to be with her family is inspired by comedian Tig Notaros own experience of coming to terms with her mother's death. As an unlikely friendship begins to bloom, they become self-made demon hunters who attempt to navigate their way through their early twenties.
