We all own at least one pair, but what happens when these become old or out-dated?</p><p>If they still fit and aren&rsquo;t too worn out, chances are you can easily turn them into an on-trend outfit for everyday wear. Sometimes even your most beloved jeans just need a change. To update your favourite pair for the summer, here&rsquo;s how to shorten and fray them for DIY perfection.</p><p>Of course, fraying the edges is optional, but it&rsquo;s a perfectly on-point fashion choice this season. Trust us. Measure the height with a ruler and mark it with pencil at various points on both legs.</p><p>Top tip: Keep the denim you cut off to one side &ndash; we&rsquo;ll be using this later on!</p><p><img alt="image1" class="ci-image ci-original" src="https://ui3.assets-asda.com/dm/image1_GL?scl=1"></p><h2>STEP 2: MEASURE OUT THE LINES</h2><p>Lay the ruler flat and draw a straight line between the pencil marks around each leg. Take your time, and retry your jeans if you&rsquo;re unsure. You can also mark in some knee rips if this is your style! </p><p>Top tip: At first, it&rsquo;s better to cut longer than the length you think you want. You can always trim higher as necessary afterwards, but you can&rsquo;t add fabric back on once you&rsquo;ve cut it!</p><p> </p><h2>STEP 3: TIME TO GET CUTTing</h2><p>Use the sharp scissors to cut carefully along those pencil lines &ndash; slow and steady does the trick!</p><p><img alt="image2" class="ci-image ci-original" src="https://ui3.assets-asda.com/dm/image2_GL?scl=1"></p><h2>STEP 4: FRAY THE HEMS</h2><p>For a frayed look, run your scissors across the hems and give any strands a little tug, until you get your desired look. </p><p>Top tip: Pop your jeans in the wash and it&rsquo;ll allow the hemlines to unravel, giving you the ultimate frayed finish!</p><p><img alt="image4x" class="ci-image ci-original" src="https://ui3.assets-asda.com/dm/image4x_GL?scl=1"></p><h2>STEP 5: WASTE NOT, WANT NOT</h2><p>Remember the denim we cut off earlier?
