Ingredients

100g Caster Sugar

6 tbsp Golden Syrup

150ml Asda No Added Sugar Cherryade

2 x 350g bags Asda Frozen for Freshness Morello Cherries

2 tbsp Vegan-friendly Cherry or a Amaretto liqueur (optional)

2 handfuls (about 100g) Fresh Cherries, pitted, to serve (optional)

Method

1
Heat the sugar and golden syrup with 2 tbsp water in a small pan until completely dissolved (about 1 min). Stir in the cherryade and set aside.
2
Place the frozen cherries in a high-powered blender with the cherryade syrup. Whizz on low speed to combine. Stop and scrape down the sides. Gradually increase the speed to high and blend until smooth, adding the cherry or amaretto liqueur, if using.
3
Transfer to a deep freezer-proof container – about 1 litre in volume; you can use a 2lb. Cover the surface with a small sheet of wax paper or baking paper and then secure the lid of your container or wrap tightly in clingfilm. Freeze for at least 4 hrs, or preferably overnight, until frozen solid. It’ll keep well for about 1 month. Transfer to the fridge for 10–15 mins before serving for easier scooping.
4
Serve in small bowls topped with fresh cherries when in season, if liked.
