Ingredients

4 slices (150g) The Bakery at Asda Sliced Brioche Loaf

75g Asda Fresh Custard

40g marzipan, finely chopped

227g pack Asda Ripe & Sweet Strawberries, hulled and sliced

20g flaked almonds, plus extra to serve

1 tsp icing sugar

Method

1
Briefly toast the brioche slices on one side under a grill on a low setting, until lightly golden. Remove from the grill and turn over.
2
Blend the custard and marzipan until smooth with a stick blender or mini food processor. Make a slight dent in the un-toasted side of the brioche slices with the back of the spoon – this will help the filling stay put. Spoon in the marzipan custard mixture, then carefully top with the sliced strawberries. Grill for 2–3 mins under a medium heat, or until strawberries have started to soften and the edges of the toast are turning golden.
3
Remove from the grill and scatter the flaked almonds evenly over the top of the brioche, up to the edges. Scattering the almonds towards the edges stops the brioche toast getting too charred too quickly. Grill for another 1–2 mins or until the almonds are golden.
4
Leave to cool for a couple of mins then dust with a sprinkling of icing sugar and add more flaked almonds, if you wish, before serving.
