Ingredients

700g Scottish Diced Beef or 700g Butcher’s Selection Diced Beef

2tbsp oil

1 onion, diced

1 clove garlic, crushed

500ml beef stock

250g mushrooms, chopped

2tbsp Worcestershire sauce

3tbsp flour

1tbsp brown sauce

2tsp dried mixed herbs

300g puff pastry

1 beaten egg

Method

1
Cook the beef in 2tbsp oil in a large pan until browned. Remove the meat and set aside.
2
Reduce the heat. Add the diced onion, and the crushed garlic and cook until soft. Add the beef, beef stock, chopped mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, flour, brown sauce and dried mixed herbs. Simmer, covered, for 1 hr.
3
Preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6.
4
Roll the puff pastry to the thickness of a £1 coin. Cut out 6 pastry lids to fit 6 individual pie dishes. Divide the beef mixture between the pie dishes. Top with the pastry lids, pressing down on the rims to seal. Brush with beaten egg.
5
Bake for 20 mins.
